BOSTON CALLING
2023
This past May, I had the amazing opportunity to attend the annual Boston Calling music festival as a press photographer for my college newspaper—the Tufts Daily—alongside my friend Matthew Winkler, a student journalist. Concert photography has been a dream of mine for a while and being able to start at such a cool venue with such talented artists was such an incredible experience. Not only did we have the chance to see so many fantastic performances over multiple days, but also had the chance to interview and photograph artists individually.
SAMMY RAE & THE FRIENDS
September 21st, 2023 — Roadrunner
This was my first time photographing any kind of concert. It was rough going at first! I made mistakes in handling the lighting while also keeping a high shutter. As a result, these photos are pretty grainy and not the best, but I wanted to include them here to see my improvement as I learn and also because seeing and being in the pit for Sammy Rae & The Friends — whose music I love — was such an amazing experience regardless.
MADISON CUNNINGHAM
September 23rd, 2023 —
Leader Bank Pavilion
This was a crazy show to be able to go to as only a second photo gig — Madison Cunningham & Hozier are two of my favorite artists. I was glad to have been able to take a lot of what I learned from the Sammy Rae show and apply it to this venue to produce photos that I think were a very large improvement. It helped that Madison Cunningham didn't move around as much to allow me to really practice and figure out a balance between aperture and shutter on the spot.
CARIN LÉON
October 5th, 2023 — TD Garden
This was my first time photographing a large stadium show and it was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. I never thought I'd have the chance to be in the photo pit of TD GARDEN!
Learned a lot here about how to photography many moving musicians at once (while surrounded by flames).
ALLMAN BETTS REVIVAL BAND
December 1st, 2023 —
Orpheum Theater
I loved shooting this show not just because I'm a huge fan of the Allman Brothers, but because the photo policy let me shoot from anywhere in the venue throughout the entire concert! I spent a lot of it in the front row and am pretty proud of a lot of these shows! Definitely one of the coolest photography experiences I've ever had.
